Sacramental Preparation

Baptismal preparation is for parents who wish to pass their faith on to their young child. Baptism is the external sign celebrating the entrance of a person into the total Christian Community as well as into our Saint Mary parish family. Please contact the parish office to schedule baptism preparation.

Our marriage preparation program and Natural Family Planning ministry are for engaged couples wishing to receive the sacrament of marriage. In the sacrament of matrimony, the couple is promised that God’s love will be effective in their reciprocal love for one another. Because our faith views marriage in this light, it is of the utmost importance that couples planning to enter this permanent bond be adequately prepared.

First Reconciliation and First Holy Eucharist are completed in second grade through our Family Religious Education Program (FREP) or through religion classes for Saint Mary School families.

Sacrament of Confirmation is for 9th-12th graders who have completed their preparation. All 8th graders need to contact Anna Murphy or Kim Hogan ahead of time (amurphy@stmarypinckney.org or 734-878-3161) to receive preparation to receive this sacrament.

There is also Adult Confirmation preparation held each year in which adults are also able to receive their Confirmation. If the adult has been away from the Church, we typically request that they join our RCIA group to grow in their relationship with the Lord to prepare to receive this sacrament. Please contact Dcn. Kevin Wiley at 734-878-3161 or Anna Murphy at 734-878-3161 to receive this sacrament.

Candidates of all ages can prepare for Baptism, First Reconciliation, First Eucharist, and Confirmation through the RCIA process, as well.
